It is reported that SVOLT has started to produce batteries at its new plant in Suining city, Sichuan province. And the production efficiency is 0.125s per piece vs 0.45s for the previous generation.

As far as we know, this new line uses 20 stacking machines in parallel to acquire this speed since stacking efficiency is the bottom-neck for cell production. BYD is using 8 machines. This is why SVOLT is getting such speed with its new facility. It is also reported that more and more cell makers are shifting to prismatic cells, instead of cylindrical types, because prismatic cells are getting the best performance for EV applications.

Actually, If producing prismatic cells for ESS, the winding is preferred since the speed is high. The limit for stacking is the speed is a little low and the individual stacking machine cannot match the request of high-efficiency mass production. Before the individual machine can match this target, most cell makers are preferring to multi-tab methods. As long as the individual stacking machine can get a high stacking speed, the cell makers will swift to the stacking method!
