Solvay new facility construction for PVDF in France had been released to Wood. The new site will be completed in 2023 and it will increase Solay’s annual capacity to 35,000 tons per year. This will make it the biggest PVDF production site in Europe.
Except PVDF as the binder for electrode coating for EV battery cells, PAA(polyacrylic acid) is another powerful competitor since PAA is not using the toxic solvent N–Methyl–2-Pyrrolidon (NMP) which is widely used to solve the PVDF powder. According ECHA and EPA, NMP is not so friendly to workers and environments.
